A recent study among high-risk patients found that pancreatic cancer screening through endoscopic ultrasound and/or MRI-based tests led to detection of smaller and earlier-stage cancers and overall, seemed to result in longer survival. Patients with an inherited gene mutation that predisposes to pancreatic cancer and/or a family history of pancreatic cancer were considered to be high risk.
