In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we wanted to spread awareness about inherited breast cancer risks among men. Did you know that men with a BRCA2 mutation have about a 7% lifetime risk of breast cancer and those with a BRCA1 or PALB2 mutation have about a 1% lifetime risk of breast cancer? Thus, men with a BRCA2 mutation (and possibly those with a BRCA1 or PALB2 mutation) should consider annual mammograms starting at age 50 or 10 years before the earliest male breast cancer in the family (whichever comes first).
If you’d like to learn more about this important topic, we encourage you to attend our upcoming online patient forum focused on inherited breast cancers in men scheduled for Tuesday, October 29th from 6:30pm-8:00pm CT. During this virtual event, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and listen to a valuable discussion with our expert panelists. To register, please visit ⤸
