A recent study among nearly 500 BRCA1/2 carriers who underwent breast cancer surgery found that survival was higher in those who chose preventive removal of their ovaries and fallopian tubes (in order to reduce cancer risks) compared to those who did not, particularly in BRCA1 carriers.
