The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recently released a guideline update for advanced-stage ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer which recommends:
- Evaluation by gynecologic oncologist before starting treatment to determine if they are candidates for primary cytoreductive surgery
- Offering germline and somatic testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2 as well as germline testing for other ovarian cancer susceptibility genes
These updates reinforce the importance of genetic testing and specialized evaluation in treatment planning, ensuring patients receive the most effective and personalized care.
