New York Times PALB2 Article

A New York Times article just published focused on the importance of PALB2 as a breast cancer gene (https://www.nytimes.com/…/breast-cancer-palb2-brca.html), which referenced our recent article focused on managing PALB2 carriers sponsored by ACMG – American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and developed through a worldwide collaboration (including: Marc Tischkowicz, Judith Balmana, Will Foulkes, Paul James, Joanne Ngeow, Rita Schmutzler, Nicoleta Voian, Myra Wick, Doug Stewart, and Tuya Pal) with link available at: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33976419/

The article highlights that: for anyone tested before 2014 for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes should consider genetic testing again to look for PALB2 mutations which are much less widely known. Women with a PALB2 mutation have almost as high a risk for getting breast cancer as those with a BRCA mutation.
